Welcome to Project Estimator.
Project Estimator brings together a combined total of over 300 years of on-site construction experience with industry-leading estimating tools. This combination produces estimates that help our customers win more work, save more time, and simplify the process of ordering materials.
our story
The Project Estimator story starts with humble beginnings- in a builder’s living room! It very quickly became apparent that there was a huge demand for builder-made estimates. Before long, a partnership with an estimating software company was formed. They employed another three estimators producing quality estimates based on material pricing from a range of quality builder’s merchants, including Jewson and JP Corry.
As the business grew, the relationship with Jewson and JP Corry developed. Our development team was able to adapt the software to use alongside their material lists. This allowed us to deliver a whole new level of detail to our estimates. It was one of many bonuses of using our own in-house developed software.
By unifying our cutting-edge software platform with our now extensive relationship with Jewson and JP Corry, we took the customer experience to new heights. After two years of exponential growth, many millions of pounds worth of materials quantified, and thousands of estimates completed, the business was acquired and reorganised into Build Aviator.
This new chapter formalised our partnership with Jewson & JP Corry, allowing us to exclusively use them for our estimates. This also brought benefits like importing your bespoke account prices and the ability to deal with your favourite branch contacts. It enabled us to offer Executive Pack reports. Eventually, Build Aviator (along with Jewson, JP Corry, and a range of other brands) was acquired by STARK UK Building Materials. With a newly energised demand from the highest level, we rebranded to Project Estimator, to match our name with our service.

“By builder, for builders” is the ethos we were built on after Andrew Ellis, our Managing Director and one of our co-founders, looked for a quality estimating service that worked around him, but came up disappointed one too many times.
A true northern brickie through and through, Andrew learned the ropes with the family business while he was still at school. Andrew cut his teeth at sites across the north. He then flew solo at 25 years old.
Starting as a one-man band, Andrew built his own business from the ground up. With time, word of mouth, and a constant drive for excellence, Andrew grew the business into a full turnkey solution. They built up to twenty houses a year across York, Sheffield, Leeds and Harrogate.
